Forgiveness is nothing new, and it's nothing to be taken lightly. Forgive yourself, so you can forgive others!

My pastor always says, "Unforgiveness is like setting yourself on fire and hoping the person that you haven't forgiven dies of smoke inhalation!"

Unforgiveness is the devil's playground and he's just waiting to chain you down with the self inflicted bondage  that is accompanied by that Unforgiveness. Ephesians 4:32 says "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other,  just as in Christ God forgave you." NIV.

“Forgive yourself first...” — Les Brown

Jesus died on the cross to free us from our sin, but in order to be truly free in life we MUST forgive! However, in order to be able to forgive others, we must forgive ourselves first.

Les Brown once said “Forgive yourself first. Release the need to replay a negative situation over and over again in your mind. Don't become a hostage to your past by always reviewing and reliving your mistakes. Don't remind yourself of what should have, could have or would have been. Release it and let it go. Move on.”

The physical and emotional wounds from that situation may fade or even heal, but the bondage that is created when we do not truly forgive, can last for generations to come.
